The Atlantic City Experience is a project of the Atlantic City Free Public Library and the Library's Atlantic City Heritage Collections. The Atlantic City Heritage Collections contain information and research materials related to Atlantic City's unique cultural, economic and historical development.
Because the collection is a special collection of the Library and many of the materials are unique, the collection is housed in the Alfred M. Heston Room, which is only open to the public during certain hours. General research hours are:
- Wednesdays, 2:00pm - 4:30pm
- Thursdays, 9:30am - 12:00pm and 2:00pm - 4:30pm
At other times, an advance appointment must be made by speaking with a librarian in the Heston Room at (609) 345-2269 ext. 3062. You may also email your request for an appointment or for research assistance to
. Limited research assistance is available off-site and there are fees for copies or reproductions. Please note that images on the website are the property of the Atlantic City Free Public Library. For information on reproduction or publication (including electronic), please contact the Heston Room staff using the telephone number or email above.
Also, the Library has proposed an Atlantic City Experience® museum. This world-class museum and research center would be dedicated to preserving the city's rich history and multicultural heritage. The Library's Board of Trustees selected Mills+Schnoering Architects, LLC to conduct a feasibility study. The completed study was presented to the public Oct. 22, 2012. Learn more about it.
